Canine Good Citizen (Course)
Turn your rowdy rover into a polite pooch! This manners-focused course is based
on the American Kennel Club's Canine
Good Citizen Program. The instructor is an AKC Certified Evaluator and offers
the Canine Good Citizen certification test at the conclusion of the class (optional).
This course allows you to improve upon or show off your dog's good manners.
Class
topics include:
- Basic obedience commands: Come, Sit, Down, Stay, Heel
- Calm, polite greetings towards people and other dogs
- Tolerance of grooming and veterinary handling procedures
- Maintaining your dog's attention around everyday distractions
- Calm reaction to separation from owner
Course participants must register and pay separately for the test, but will receive
a discount coupon worth $5.00 toward the registration fee. Course participants
are also guaranteed a spot in the test session.
Canine Good Citizen (Practice + Test)
The Canine Good Citizen certification test will be offered the week after class
completion and MAY be taken without completing the course. Separate registration
is required and cost includes the test fee, test workbook, registration materials,
practice test and Canine Good Citizen patch.
